Meeting at 8pm on the first Friday of the month, at RAFA Club, Wish Road, Eastbourne, (except January and February).

Branch Meetings; Please note change to Branch monthly meetings. In order to reduce problems in attendance during the winter, it has been decided that from hereon there will be no meetings held in the months of January and February. To compensate the previously excluded August meeting, will be reinstated.

This decision was taken by the Committee after reviewing all the options for change, at a specially convened meeting in April.

Chairmans Notes; The recently held Church Parade was probably one of our best ever. The great weather combined with a good turnout from both members and guests made for a memorable occasion. I can’t remember quite so many Standards on parade for a long time, and the presence of the young Scottish Piper; Luke Doderidge added to the occasion.

Needless to say we have already booked for next year, using the same format. Have submitted a piece for the next RMPA Journal in which I have floated the idea of spending a week in June in Eastbourne next year, during which time members could join us for both the Church Parade on May 30th, and the Dinner Dance on the 5^th of June. This will hopefully generate a little interest from some of our Branch neighbours.

At our last Committee meeting it was suggested that we organise events other than the regular Friday evening Branch meetings. To this end Beryl has negotiated a luncheon deal to take place in lieu of the August meeting, at the Wheatsheaf Restaurant, Little Common. Attached is a response slip for those of you wishing to attend, (partners and guests welcome). The cost will be £7.50(includes a small service charge) for a three course meal.

At our June meeting we had a most interesting talk about the experiences of a sub-mariner; Harry Summerton. It is a constant problem to find speakers for our meetings, so we would appreciate all the help we can get. Any suggestions please contact Beryl or a member of the Committee.

For future Branch meetings, a members’ “signing in book” is to be made available. This will help our Welfare Officer, Bob Adams, to identify those members who have not been seen for a while and who might welcome a call.
