ABOUT THE RMPA BRANCH-WESTERN AUSTRALIA.

RMPA Western Australia Branch is the only branch established in Australia and New Zealand and has been operating as an active and vibrant branch since 2006. As well as fully participating in the annual ANZAC Day parades in Perth, our branch is proud to be prominent in the local ex-service community. We also support the UK ‘Help for Heroes’ cause and the local ‘PMH Foundation’ – benefiting the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children and this is done through holding family day fundraisers, including the annual International Redcaps Cricket Challenge (RMPA v MPAA) and in holding raffles during our regular lunchtime meetings.

We welcome RMP/RMPA visitors to Perth and to our regular meetings of our branch. Our meetings are held over lunch in a social and informal atmosphere usually at the splendid RAAFA Club, Bullcreek with wives or partners fully participating.

Whilst membership of RMPA Western Australia Branch is predominantly drawn from the Perth metropolitan area, there are a number of members living in other areas of Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom who either visit Perth, or otherwise have an affinity with our branch and benefit from a conduit of RMPA information in the Australasian region.

LAST UPDATE 22nd January 2012-Newsletter...

22.01.2012 Newsletter-To all members RMPA Western Australia Branch

I wish all members and their families a very happy New Year and hope you will be able to attend as many RMPA branch meetings during 2012 as possible.

Next regular RMPA WA Branch lunchtime meeting:

The next regular RMPA lunchtime meeting for members, together with wives or partners, will be in the Sun Room at the RAAFA Club, Bullcreek on Thursday 23 February 2012 at midday. Lunch is off the blackboard menu.

Members are reminded they are welcome to invite guests to any of our RMPA lunches, but I would ask they first confirm arrangements with Eric Heath. Eric has then to liaise with the RAAFA club to organise numbers for lunch and area for seating. Please contact Eric Heath on 9291 8962 to confirm your attendance.

Branch fund raising activities:

At our 2011 AGM there was discussion on the continuation of Branch fundraising activities, and in particular the viability of continuing the annual BBQ/Raffle & Auction/International Cricket Match between RMPA and MPAA. Although the event has been successful in providing healthy donations to the ‘Help the Heroes Foundation’ there had been a noticeable drop in the numbers attending since the inaugural event in 2009. It was agreed that the Branch Secretary would canvass the views of all members in relation to the future of fundraising activities, and whether our members would find other activities more appealing.

Whilst the letter was sent to members some weeks ago, I understand that very few have responded. Now that the festive season is behind us, I ask that members turn their minds to the issue and please advise Geoff Harland, Branch Secretary of your thoughts. I have extended the return date to 31 January 2012 as your Branch Management Committee seek a clear direction from the membership as to their thoughts and prospect of continued support for the concept. Please see attached letter which should be completed and returned to the Branch secretary as soon as possible.

Membership fees for 2012 are now due. I am pleased to confirm that your membership fees remain unchanged and are excellent value at $25 for RMPA full members and $20 for Associate or Honorary Branch membership (HBM). Payment can be either by cheque, money order or bank transfer. Cheques and money orders are to be made out to RMPA Western Australia Branch and sent to our Branch Treasurer, Steve O’Connor at 16 Hartleap Lane, Beldon WA 6027. For those members wishing to use bank transfer, please send your fees to (BSB) 036-231 (Account # 342862) – please ensure you note your name on the electronic transfer document as Steve will need to reconcile fees paid into the branch account to the member concerned.

Your branch also fully endorses the excellent work done by Bob Eggelton of RMP Old Comrades Linkup who devotes a considerable amount of personal time locating and reconnecting former workmates from CMP/RMP service of many years ago. If you want to try and make contact with an old CMP/RMP friend, then I will be happy to assist you with enrolment in the RMP Old Comrades network and to provide a conduit of initial contact. Please let me know if you need further information.

Our branch also arranges to receive copies of the RMP Journals which are published each April, August & December – please contact Bryan Edwards for further details. We also keep a number of back issues of these magazines and the branch is happy to pay the postage of any RMP Journal to members, but the magazines must be returned after a reasonable time and the member concerned pays the return postage.

The editor Recaps-Western Australia also keeps a number of back copies of our excellent local newsletter going back to 2006. Please contact Bryan Edwards direct on redcaps@optusnet.com.au or for postal members to phone (08) 6161 8511 with your request for copies of back RMP Journals or for all local newsletters.

Finally, I would like to emphasise that Redcaps-Western Australia is your newsletter and newsworthy contributions or service related stories are always welcomed. If you have yet to submit your own service profile or contribute a background story relating to your past military police service, please get in contact with Bryan soon.

Thank you and kind regards, Brian Griffiths, Branch Chairman, RMPA Western Australia Branch.

07.12.2011:Dear members

RMPA WA BRANCH - FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES FOR 2012 AND BEYOND.

Item 3 of the recent Branch Ordinary Meeting Minutes refers to Fund Raising Activities and in particular the viability of continuing the annual BBQ/International Cricket Match between RMPA and MPAA. Although the event has been successful in providing healthy donations to the 'Help the Heroes Foundation' there has been a noticeable drop in the numbers attending, since the inaugural event in 2009 and it was suggested at the meeting that there may be other activities more appealing to members. In the event, I have attached a letter soliciting the support of all members in regard to future fundraising activities. Please take time to read the letter and supportyour committee by providing feedback to me as requested.

I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Geoff Harland, Branch Secretary.
